From the Beginning
Alma Quartet is based in Lubbock, Texas. Founding members Jerry Serrano and John Reid began playing together in 2003. Current members are: Jerry Serrano (Vocals, Trumpet, Guitar) John Reid (Bass) JT Paz (Drums) and Dr. Charles Whitehead (Piano)
We play a mix of Vocal Jazz standards and original music. Styles range from 20s-60s vocal jazz to Bossa Nova, Samba, and Cumbia
Inspiration and Influence
Alma Quartet has crafted a sound drawing from the jazz greats of years past. Jazz standards blend with eclectic original song with inspiration from Miles Davis, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and BB King.
Looking to the Future
We recently had a performance on PBS for the Texas Tech Public Media show Sound On Tap. Two new songs were performed. Look for more new songs at our performances as we prepare for our follow-up album to Solitude.
